Four Cornerstones of Total Well-being
Four Cornerstones of Total Well-being
I’ve been thinking about this topic for a while now. Getting this right can attract great fortune to your life. The more “well” you are, the better decisions you will make in life. The better decisions you make, the better life you will have for yourself and your family. We must all strive to be healthy in all aspects of our lives. Not anchoring our lives with these four cornerstones of total well-being will create tremendous stress in our lives. Stress is so disruptive. The more stress we remove from our lives, the better we function and the more successful we become. It’s easier said than done, but it is so worth it!
The four cornerstones of total well-being are psychological, physical, financial, and spiritual. When one or more of these is lacking, we cannot achieve total well-being. We just can’t be all we can be, to borrow the Army’s expression. In this blog post, I will address two of the four cornerstones of total well-being…physical and financial. Get these two right and you will be well on your way to total well-being.
Four Cornerstones of Total Well-being…Physical
It’s been said if you don’t have your health, you have nothing. I say if you reach your golden years in bad health, it doesn’t matter how wealthy you are. You will still be miserable. Not only that, you can destroy your wealth just trying to get healthy, or stay alive. What kind of quality of life will you enjoy, and how much will your family suffer in the process? If you can prevent that, why wouldn’t you?
How about while you’re still young? I believe it’s tragic to live your life in such a way that you abuse your health. I don’t have to elaborate on the many ways we can devise to damage the wonderful gift of life God has given us. And remember, it’s not only you that suffers, but your loved ones as well. Poor health and/or too much weight stresses the body and mind tremendously. You must get it under control. I know it can be hard. Aren’t you worth it? Isn’t your family worth it?
OK, so what can you do about it? Determine now that you will begin taking much better care of yourself, and that you will firmly establish this corner of the four cornerstones of total well-being Don’t over eat, eat more of the good stuff and less of the bad stuff, lose weight, get more exercise, cut back or eliminate the vices, etc. You all know the drill. DO IT!
However…you need a plan, a recipe of success for physical well-being. I get it. I’ve been a proponent of health and wellness all my life. Several years ago I lost 18 pounds to get myself back on track. At 66 years of age, I’m in very good health and very fit as well.
With the exception of that one year period of time I gained 18 pounds, I’ve lived a life of health and fitness. I’ve never been sick except a cold. I’ve never had a disease. My energy levels are high. I can engage is all kinds of activities. So I’m in a position to help you with this.
Better yet, let me introduce you to a doctor I respect very much. He’s a medical doctor, but also a natural health doctor. He has a great website, mercola.com. Visit his site a few times and you will become very educated on health and fitness. He shot a video and spoke frankly about the state of the medical profession and his frustration with it. YOU MUST WATCH IT especially after the fourth minute.
You see folks…one critical reason to stay healthy is so you can stay away from doctors and hospitals. A recent Johns Hopkins study found that 250,000 to 440,000 deaths each year are due to medical errors. It is the third leading cause of death in America after heart disease and cancer. Read the article HERE.
You must take responsibility for your own health! And that of your family. After you watch the video, go HERE to start your health and nutrition plan. Now watch this awesome video!
Four Cornerstones of Total Well-being…Financial
What happens when your financial life is a total disaster? We see how financially sick this country is every day on the news. We have runaway debt and our country’s leaders don’t seem determined enough to do much about it. The Federal Bank just prints money whenever our country gets into trouble. Wouldn’t it be easy for us if we could just print money every time we needed some? But we have to play by the rules don’t we? Nothing can devastate our lives more than failing with our finances. And nothing seems to cause more stress in our lives than when our financial life is a mess. The Bible mentions money more than any other topic.
You must read this carefully…the only true security you have in life (other than through Jesus Christ) is the security you create for yourself. Unless you put into place strategies where you actually take control of your financial future, you will live your entire life at risk. Statistically, most Americans today will retire in financial distress. What a sad way to live your golden years. What a sad way to live your daily life. This is such an essential part of the four cornerstones of total well-being.
Step ONE in financial well-being is to get out of debt…ASAP! This is not an option my friends. This is an absolute must do! Who knows where taxes will be in the future. Cost of living will increase. Food, healthcare, and fuel will continue increasing if things keep going the way they are. Eventually we will have another recession.
If you continue to carry debt, you will live a life on the financial edge….a life full of stress worrying what will happen if you lose your job or experience some kind of emergency. Look at what happened to families in 2008. Much of it was because people had too much debt and their financial house was in disarray.
How do I get out of debt?
Get on a debt elimination plan. You can be debt free in a few short years. There’s a ton of great info on getting out of debt. I recently came across a blog written by a 20 something young man who paid off $80,000 in consumer debt in just over three years. I recommend reading his blog HERE. There are many programs out there that show you how to get out of debt using the debt snowball strategy.
Here’s Dave Ramsey’s debt snowball program. There are some software programs that help you get out of debt using the debt snowball. One good one that’s free can be found at Undebt.it. Check it out. You can upgrade to their full blown program for just twelve dollar for the year.
While I find value in those programs, there’s a better way to do it while still incorporating the debt snowball strategy. You see, all the debt elimination programs ask you to have a minimum amount of money in savings and throwing all your spare cash at paying off the first debt on your list until it’s paid off. Then take that minimum payment and all your spare cash and use it to pay down the next debt, etc, etc.
While you can pay off all your debt in a fairly short period of time with this strategy, you end up with no money after it’s all done.
An alternative strategy is to start your own family bank using the Infinite Banking Concept and incorporate the debt snow ball with it. Here’s the very cool thing about this. If you create your own family bank, once all your debt is paid, there can be tens of thousands of dollars in your bank to use for what ever you want? Did you get that? Folks, you can pay off your debt AND create wealth at the same time!
You see, there are many “gurus” out there teaching people how to get out of debt. I applaud them for that. But what happens after years of sacrifice when you’re now debt free, but broke. How will you buy your next car? You will need to immediately begin saving like crazy to come up with thousands and thousands of dollars for your next car. How long will that take? Can you really live the rest of your life always saving a ton of money for your next big purchase, or for vacation, or furniture, or house repairs, etc.? What about retirement?
Most people will just go back into debt because they don’t have an alternative. Well, there IS an alternative and it’s privatized banking using the Infinite Banking Concept. You create your own family bank. My website is dedicated to it. The idea is to pay off your debt and end up with a pile of money sitting in your family bank. This money in your bank grows each year guaranteed tax deferred. You now have a bank, YOUR bank, to finance your next purchase. You pay the loan back with interest and create even more wealth. Some day YOUR bank will pay you a tax free income for life.
Here is the truth of the matter. We will need funding most of our lives. Living a life debt free in a traditional sense is very hard, and not efficient. Most people just can’t live debt free lives and adequately fund retirement simultaneously. If you make hundreds of thousands of dollars a year, yes. But most people don’t make that kind of money.
Here’s a video on how to use the debt snowball and the Infinite Banking Concept to get out of debt.
Here’s a video that shows you what the Infinite Banking Concept is and what financial instrument we use to set up your private bank.
Be Well and Prosper
Putting in place the physical and financial cornerstones of the four cornerstones of total well-being will make the other two easier to achieve. If you’re fit and healthy, you’ll feel so much better about yourself. That will help you psychologically. Being able to control your health and fitness is empowering. When you’re debt free and have strong cash flow coming into your home, it’s amazing how much less stress you will experience.
Massive stress in our lives from debt and poor health can get in the way of your relationship with God. This can disrupt your spiritual well-being. It’s hard to be at peace…and that’s a horrible way to live. Fortunately, God can help provide us with the peace that passes understanding. Frankly without Him, I’m not sure how you can experience the peace you truly want and need.
Thanks for sticking it out all this time. Take action now on what you’ve read, and I promise your life will change, but only if you want to make a change. It all starts with making a commitment, once and for all. Make the changes necessary to live life to the fullest by establishing the Four Cornerstones of Total Well-being in your life
Let me leave you with a powerful quote from the Bible found in Ecclesiastes 5: 19 and 20:
“19 And it is a good thing to receive wealth from God and the good health to enjoy it. To enjoy your work and accept your lot in life—this is indeed a gift from God. 20 God keeps such people so busy enjoying life that they take no time to brood over the past.”
